Conversion to CNG
Installing a CNG kit enables any type of car to run on CNG. The term "kit" refers to an assemblage of several parts needed to run an existing vehicle on CNG. No matter the kind of kit, there are a few essential parts that are included in all of them, including the CNG storage cylinder, the high pressure tube, the pressure regulator, the pressure gauge, the changeover switch, the high pressure tube fittings, the refueling receptacle, and the air fuel mixer.
The following illustration shows the main parts of a CNG kit for a petrol vehicle:
Petrol solenoid valve with pressure regulator and manual override switch. (Stops gasoline flow while using CNG)
both a refueling hookup and an on-off valve. (Includes a refueling mechanism and opens or closes the gas supply to the regulator)
(Electronic control component with fuel selection switch) Control module/Change-over switch
LED indicator for the CNG level
